Since 1953, our Department has been carrying the rich tradition of Department of Cartography, Institute of Geography, Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1994 a merger occured with the Laboratory of Geographic Information Systems and GIS tools were brought into editorial works of the Atlas of Poland. Since then, our aim is to combine cartographic know-how, craftmanship and advanced technology.

Population of Poland in XXth Century

The book by Prof. Andrzej Gawryszewski. An extensive overview of population distribution, migration processes and demographic, ethnic and social composition, in relation to historical and political events of the last century. 620 pages, 200 tables, 82 maps and figures. Full contents in Polish is available on-line.

AIMS

Aviso Internet Map Server: our own software for publishing dynamic maps on WWW pages.

A geodatabase, which is the starting point of all our maps and products.

Digital Atlas of Poland

AVISO Geographic Information System 3

Computer software for spatial data handling and mapping, designed and engineered entirely in Department. Used in past for mapping projects in our Lab, now superceded by system 4.

Atlas of the Republic of Poland

The Atlas of the Republic of Poland is most extensive, country-wide collection of cartographic work. Our Department prepared the General Concept, carried out all cartographic editing and most of the technical editing, as well as co-ordination of contributions by 164 authors. The effect sums up to 157 sheets, containing hundreds of maps.
