(project własny)

The main scientific objective of the Agricultural Atlas of Poland is to perform a "snapshot" of the agricultural economy at regional and national level using the latest statistical databases processed into a modern cartographic image. Apart from broad cartographic content, the atlas contains a detailed text commentary explaining processes and phenomena in agricultural economy. Information on contemporary agriculture is enriched with numerous charts, tables and photographs. The atlas stands beyond standard model of cartographic studies, in which map is generally the only form of communication. The cognitive objective of the Agricultural Atlas of Poland is primarily a diagnosis of a contemporary state of Polish agriculture. An additional asset of the study is the dynamic analysis of selected issues. The most important of these are presented over a dozen years. This will allow for the evaluation of the most significant processes and phenomena taking place in the rural economy in the transition period and the first years of the Polish membership in the European Union. The methodological aim is to develop a formula of an atlas, in other words, means of presenting the issues and identify appropriate balance between them. Worked formula can be a model for similar atlas studies in the future.
