Education

  • 1999-2004 - studies at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (master’s thesis entitled The Theme of Amazing Musical Insyruments in Folk Culture).
  • 2017-2023 PhD student at the Faculty of Humanities of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Title of disertation: 'The devil is in the details'. Signs ofthe Supernatural world in everyday life of the Polish village of the 19th and early 20th centuries in terms of folklore and ethnographic descriptions.

2004-2017 - head of the Ethnographic Department at Museum of Mazovian Countryside ins Sierpc.

since 2021 - Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization PAS (IGiPZ PAN)

Research interests

 

  • Geomitologies of the young glacial area.
  • Cultural geomorphology.
  • Geofolklore.
  • Meaning of landscape and semantics of significant places.

Awards and distinctions

  • Winner of the competition for the best master’s thesis of rural culture, organized by “Foundation for Aid to Students of Rural Culture and Research Financing and Publications in this Area” (Toruń 2004)
  • A Distinction in the 11th edition of the nationwide competition “Polish Village – Heritage and Future”, organized by “The Foundation for the Development of Polish Agriculture” for the publication Millers and Mills in the Memories of the Inhabitants of the Masovian-Dobrzyń Borderline.
