Stanisław Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSO PAS) was founded in 1953 (initially as the Institute of Geography PAS). The Institute is an important research centre in Poland in the fields of socio-economic geography, physical geography as well as spatial organization. Within the framework of the Institute, the Central Library of Geography and Environmental Protection is operating, this being one of the largest library centres of the kind in the world. (more...)

On May 22-24, 2019, at the headquarters of IMGW-PIB in Warsaw the international events in the field of biometeorology and bioclimatology took place: International Conference UTCI - 10 years of applications in human bioclimatology, 1st European Biometeorologists’ Regional Meeting, as well as 1st Forum of Polish Biometeorologists.

International Conference UTCI - 10 YEARS OF APPLICATION

In 1999 at the ISB Congress in Sydney the Commission for developing the Universal Thermal Climate Index UTCI was established. In 2009 special COST Action 730 „Towards a universal thermal climate index UTCI for assessing the thermal environment of the human being” has successfully completed the work proposing UTCI as a new tool in biometeorological and bioclimatic research.
