GIS and Cartography Workgroup

Digital Atlas of Poland

The Atlas was made in the years 1999-2000 in the former Department of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems, as the State Committee for Scientific Research grant project. It was the first effort to prepare a digital, true GIS publication, keeping the higher than average standards of cartographic work and covering the whole territory of Poland. The atlas was driven by custom made GIS software based on AVISO system and bundled on a CD-ROM as a standalone application+maps package.

The Atlas featured variety of cartographic presentation methods ranging from traditional choropleth maps and diagrams to more novel two-variate choropleth and shaded-contourline relief map.
