Stanisław Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSO PAS) was founded in 1953 (initially as the Institute of Geography PAS). The Institute is an important research centre in Poland in the fields of socio-economic geography, physical geography as well as spatial organization. The 35th Economic Forum, held in Karpacz on 8-10 September 2026, was organised with the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSO PAS) as one of its partners. This year’s edition brought together more than 6,500 guests from 55 countries. Over the course of three days, representatives of politics, business, public administration, academia, social organisations and culture took part in debates devoted to the most important challenges of the modern world. The Forum’s central theme was The Architecture of a New Order – Stability in Times of Change. Representatives of IGSO PAS took part in debates devoted to key challenges related to the spatial and socio-economic development of Poland.
On 8–10 September 2026, the 35th Economic Forum will be held in Karpacz under the theme The Architecture of a New Order – Stability in Times of Change. It is the largest socio-economic conference in Central Europe, attracting more than 6,000 participants each year, including representatives of over 150 universities and research institutes. We are pleased to announce that the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization PAS is an institutional partner of this prestigious event and the organizer of two discussion panels addressing the intersection of expert knowledge and policymaking in the context of spatial management (T. Komornicki), as well as the opportunities and challenges associated with the operation of water retention reservoirs (Ł. Wiejaczka).
