Stanisław Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSO PAS) was founded in 1953 (initially as the Institute of Geography PAS). The Institute is an important research centre in Poland in the fields of socio-economic geography, physical geography as well as spatial organization. Within the framework of the Institute, the Central Library of Geography and Environmental Protection is operating, this being one of the largest library centres of the kind in the world. (more...)

Interrregional relations in Europe - the results of our Institute's work

On 17 February 2022 the ESPON website published a discussion of the results of the innovative ESPON IRiE project - Interrregional relations in Europe obtained by the team from IGSO PAS. They concern the variability of links across the eastern border of Poland (with Ukraine and Belarus) in the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic.

Warsaw Regional Forum postponed to autumn 2022

Due to the still uncertain epidemic situation and the desire to avoid organising the conference in an online or hybrid format, the Organising Committee has decided to postpone the Warsaw Regional Forum 2021 "Towards supranational spatial structures in Europe" conference until autumn 2022. We hope to have a successful and interesting conference in a traditional format next year. Detailed information will be provided soon.
